Liam Fox resignation exposes Tory links to US radical right

Fox's organisation, which was wound up last year following a critical Charity Commission report into its activities, formed a partnership with an organisation called the American Legislative Exchange Council. The powerful lobbying organisation, which receives funding from pharmaceutical, weapons and oil interests among others, is heavily funded by the Koch Charitable Foundation whose founder, Charles G Koch, is one of the most generous donors to the Tea Party movement in the US. In recent years, the Tea Party has become a potent populist force in American politics, associated with controversial stances on global warming.

Last September, ThinkProgress posted an investigative piece about Mike Pompeo, the Republican nominee running for Congress in an open seat near Wichita, Kansas. Not only was Koch Pompeo's largest contributor, but Pompeo had gained a public profile using two local Koch front groups, had been personally endorsed by Charles Koch, and Pompeo s oil business has a partnership with Koch s subsidiaries operating in Brazil

How the Billionaires Broke the System

There are two ways of cutting a deficit: raising taxes or reducing spending. Raising taxes means taking money from the rich. Cutting spending means taking money from the poor. Not in all cases of course: some taxation is regressive; some state spending takes money from ordinary citizens and gives it to banks, arms companies, oil barons and farmers. But in most cases the state transfers wealth from rich to poor, while tax cuts shift it from poor to rich. So the rich, in a nominal democracy, have a struggle on their hands. Somehow they must persuade the other 99% to vote against their own interests: to shrink the state, supporting spending cuts rather than tax rises. In the US they appear to be succeeding.

Degrading the American Dream inside Koch’s Americans for Prosperity convention

Last weekend was a wild one for climate action in our nation s Capitol, between the protest outside a conference run by Koch Industries front group Americans for Prosperity and Sunday s large street protest against the proposed Keystone XL tar sands pipeline that encircled the White House with over 10,000 people. The two issues came together when I and another Greenpeace activist found oil billionaire and Americans for Prosperity Chairman David Koch inside AFP s Defending the American Dream conference, and questioned Koch about his company s financial stake in the Keystone XL pipeline and their false statement to Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA). Watch for yourself below.

Read My Lips Koch Brothers, No New Tax Cuts

Much of the business and non-profit investments Koch gives money to are organizations that promote his political ideology of less government regulations and more tax breaks for himself and his ultra-wealthy colleagues in the corporate world. Koch did not expound on what government programs he considers do more harm than good, but based on his politics, one can assume it is any program that benefits the bottom 98% of income earners; but primarily the poor. One thing is certain, Koch does not object to millions of Americans tax dollars going to government programs that subsidize his companies

Dear Koch brothers: will you be my guest in Arkansas?

I want Charles and David Koch to come visit me first hand and see how their factory and pollution have hurt my neighbors. I have heard from thousands of people all across the country, but I am still looking and listening for a RSVP from Charles and David themselves.

Koch brothers polluting river and politics

The Koch brothers are poisoning our river and our politics. If you re not familiar with Charles and David Koch, you should bone up on them. Among the mega-rich, Forbes estimates their fortunes at $25 billion each, the brothers family-owned companies stretch from oil and gas refineries to fertilizer production to paper mills. They have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into right-wing, ultra-conservative causes - a political philosophy they come by naturally. Their father, Fred, was a founding member of the John Birch Society.

The Further Death of ‘Liberaltarianism’

Rep. Mike Pompeo – The Koch brother’s puppet in the war on children

Last month, we found out how Rep. Mike Pompeo succeeded in getting his amendment passed that would strip out funding for a new public database, operated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The database would allow people to make informed decisions on product safety, having access to injury reports on things like toys, cribs, and strollers.

In yet another example of corporate media ignoring a massive demonstration on December 10, 2011 as thousands of civil rights activists marched on the New York offices of Koch Industries and then to the UN to protest the Koch brothers support of restrictive voting laws that are set to create electoral racial segregation and disenfranchise millions of American voters.

Neither Charles nor David Koch fund the Tea Parties. They are involved with and support an organization, which in turn has involvement with some Tea Party members. Koch Industries encourages all citizens, including Tea Party members, to engage in civil discourse concerning the important public policy issues in the United States, most importantly the grave financial issues presented by the rampant overspending and growth of government in the past 10 years.

Wisconsin Koch-Puppet Scott Walker Loves Him Some Private Prisons

Scott Walker is a prime example of a heavily corporate sponsored candidate (even drawing large sums from Arch-NeoCons the Koch Brothers) who plots to destroy working class negotiation tools, while giving away public resources to his billionaire allies. Whether it be lies about how public pensions are draining the budget , selling no bid power plant contracts to Koch industries or using layoffs as a political weapon, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has no problems lying and scheming to accomplish the will of his corporate masters.
