National Latino group pulls convention from Texas over SB4 – Houston Chronicle

The National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators is moving its annual convention from Houston to Chicago in protest of Texas sanctuary cities bill, SB4. The summit draws state legislators, Hispanic organizations, corporate representatives and high-ranking elected officials and diplomats to discuss issues that concern the Hispanic/Latino population, according to the organization website.

California Governor Jerry Browns revised budget proposal includes an extra $15 million to expand legal services for people facing deportation, which would increase the total to $33 million for legal services for immigrants. The budget also includes $3 million for unaccompanied minors and $15 million for the One California project, which helps immigrants in the state apply for naturalization and for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) initiative. Other states would be wise to follow Californias lead.

Donald Trump considered using national guard to round up immigrants, memo suggests

The Trump administration considered a proposal to mobilize as many as 100,000 national guard troops to round up unauthorized immigrants, including millions living nowhere near the Mexico border, according to a draft memo obtained by the Associated Press.
